About the event

Sita Devi Dasi, also known as Dr. Sandhya Subramanian, B.D.S, MS, is a Bhakti-yogi raised in the land of devotional song.  She has performed kirtan all over the world, including the international Kirtan Fest in Mumbai.

She works to support youth, women, and the environment in a spiritually and culturally-rooted manner.

She started the Bhaktivedanta Hospital Youth Foundation, conducting an AIDS awareness counselling program for youth based on culture and traditional value systems of India for ten years, reaching almost 50,000 Youth. 

She has created projects and campaigns to increase awareness of the environmetal impact of plastic use and start tree plantations whilst engaging youth from 50 schools and colleges in Mumbai.   

She presently heads the Women Empowerment and Skill Development program for rural women at Govardhan Eco Village outside of Mumbai (https://ecovillage.org.in/). This program assists local woman in spirituality, health, poverty alleviation, and food security. The program supports them to make a livelihood through skills such as stitching, painting, handicrafts and food production. As a trained dentist she gives free treatment and awareness talks in the villages about general health and hygiene. She conducts workshops and seminars and conduct counselling and psychotherapy especially for women's issues. She has participated in many conferences and seminars such as the Nexus Conference and the Ecotheology Conference organised by Yale University at GEV.

She'll share stories about her experience and her enthusiasm for women's upliftment worldwide.
