About the event
The summer solstice has held a special place in the collective consciousness since the dawn of humanity. Called Litha by the Celts, Midsummer in Northern Europe, and the end of Uttarayana in India, the Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year and marks the sun's highest point in the sky in the Northern Hemisphere. The word Solstice springs from two Latin words 'Sol (sun) and 'systre' (standing still), the day when the sun stands still in the sky.
Solstice celebrations are often marked by symbols of fire (agni) and abundance, representing all that the sun brings into our lives. This class will move through a process, building a gentle fire within to clear resistance and welcome the abundance we seek. Beginning with intention setting, you will engage with breath, moving into warming movements to stoke the fire, and then cool down with a restorative closing followed by 30 minutes of Yoga Nidra.
