Lunar Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Hatha Yoga flow inspired by the moon, closing with a guided relaxing Savasana/Nidra.
Service Description
A cooling flow, perfect for winding down a Monday. This is a chaturanga-free zone with a flow that is easy on the arms and shoulders. This week's class will embody the waxing Crescent Moon and the beginning of this lunar cycle. Gene O’Neill, RYT 500, began his yoga journey in 2005 after the birth of his twin sons, initially seeking a low-impact way to stay fit and reduce stress. What he found was far deeper. Influenced by a series of powerful teachers, especially his first true mentor Tony Pena, Gene immersed himself in pranayama, Sanskrit, and the philosophical roots of asana. A guiding principle—“Yoga is not about the pose”—became central to his practice, helping him navigate a traumatic experience in 2016 and deepening his commitment. In 2018, a chance moment—spotting a yoga studio sign across the street while at a restaurant—sparked a turning point. Gene decided to pursue teaching and share the practice that had transformed his life. He enrolled at Axis Yoga (now Denver Yoga Underground), where mentor Derik Eselius helped expand his understanding of yoga as a physical, philosophical, and spiritual path. He earned his RYT 200 certification there and, in 2024, completed an additional 300-hour training to become an RYT 500 instructor. Outside the studio, Gene is devoted to his family, friends, and community. A Scout leader since 2012, he has mentored youth, led leadership trainings, and facilitated summer camps. His teaching reflects a belief that each person’s path is unique yet interconnected with others. For Gene, the pose is only a starting point—true yoga lies in the personal exploration guided by breath and awareness.
